Hi, I have a AR190G which is a T2500 @ 2ghz core duo processor... It plays blu ray quite slowly which is well annoying... any ideas if i can fit my e6400 desktop processor in it? I mean except for the battery, any other things that might cause problem? I mean it shouldn't damage the components or anything right?

Umm, it might be too big to fit

    Short answer: no.

Any desktop CPU will not fit into a laptop unless the laptop was specifically designed for that purpose (Asus C90S). Your laptop's socket type is Socket 479, meaning it has 479 pins on the processor. Your E6400's socket type is Socket 775, meaning that there are 775 contact points (trivia: Socket LGA775 has the pins on the motherboard, not the CPU). Also, there would be voltage issues and BIOS issues if it fit in the first place. The only upgrade you can make is to a Merom processor (Centrino series, T5500 - T7600), but it won't boost performance that much.

Absolutely will not work. Wrong socket configuration, insufficient power, insufficient cooling, etc.

Get a Core 2 (Merom or Santa Rosa) with a 4MB L2 cache and you'll be fine. (this generally involves getting a whole new laptop, since it's sometimes impossible or ridiculously expensive to upgrade the CPU)

Try getting a Mobile Core 2 duo 7200, 7400, 7600. You may need a BIOS update to support Core 2 Duo.

Also try maxing out your ram. You should be able to go to ~3gb of ram.

T2500 duo core cannot play blue-ray comfortably ? a 2G dual core is definitely not a slow CPU. Is playing blue-ray so demanding on processing power ?

I'm puzzled by this too. The T2500 should have no problem playing HD video, even at high resolutions. What are the other specifications of your system?
