trying to figure out the processor to get, may purchase an m15x which has the same price upgrade option for a i7 620 or 720, also looking at some i5's. my laptop will be used purely for diablo 3 when that comes out, SC2 soon, just wondering if there is any advantage to either route for these specific games. I know D3 has no system requirements posted yet but just trying to get some good educated guesses, thanks!

Dunno about Diablo 3, but I know a couple people who are running the SC2 beta maxed out on older Core 2 dual-cores. I think as long as you have a hefty enough GPU, an i5/i7 dual-core definitely shouldn't bottleneck you.

What CPU are you upgrading from? IMO it wouldn't be worth it to upgrade to either the 620M or 720QM.

I am sure you will be fine with just dual core for both games. Blizzard never makes very demanding games. Judging from what I have seen from SC2 and D3 they look to be no exception. As was pointed out earlier, people have already played SC2 with ease on dual cores and diablo 3 wont be out til at least 2012 so I wouldn't even worry about it right now.

Well I have not played the game and I am not expert, but someone told me that the game is actually demanding CPU wise... Here, this link will take you to the forums where I posted a question and the guy that posted back said that I should go for quad.

blizzard managed to tread the line of ruining the game with over the top graphics and managing to make SCII look 'fresh' very beautifully. The Game's 2D past is still very much alive, but now you have the 'Sins of a solar empire' viewing angles that allow you to come down to the battle and view it in 3d. If blizzard manages to accomplish the same thing with Diablo 3 and go a bit further(given that it should still be a year or two away), I can't see why 4 threads wouldn't be supported. Big farms in SCII can be *extremely* cpu intensive, and Diablo 3 should be no different if previous versions are to be considered.
