I bought a Nova 64 from a major reseller last week. The seal on one end of the box was cut through. Doesn't look like the seal could have just broken in transit. I did not buy it as 'open box' merchandise. Serial number on box matches serial number on drive. Paint in mounting screw holes does not show wear. Should I be worried about this?

Can I retrieve the SMART data by sticking it in a USB caddy?
Any particular software I should use to look at it?
What should I be looking for to see if it was used previously?

If it's based on Indinix Barefoot like a quick Google seems to suggest, you can use CrystalDiskInfo to read how many hours it's been turned on and how many write cycles are used.

Not sure if you can read SMART info via USB, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Crystal Disk Mark only show write cycles for Intel drives that I've found so far, but should show hours in use. If it's less than 2 then you should be good.

    Thank you both.
Crystal Disk Info showed 7 power cycles and 0 hours of use, 100% health.
I didn't think it could get a health reading on a new disk.
A new HDD showed 8 power cycles and 0 hours.
