I forgot my HP laptop in my car the day we hit 115. It was there for about an hour. It worked fine for about a day and then it froze after loading up. After signing in, I couldn't do anything. Working in safe mode was alright. Since that had already happened, I figured it was a system problem so after trying different things, I ended up reinstalling the system (Vista Home Premium SP2).
But after reinstalling the system, a lot of weird, seemingly unconnected issues are coming up every day. For instance, right now (I mean as I was typing now), I can't copy text (not even with the mouse). Also, the touchpad scrolling area stopped working even though I did all the steps to enable it again. After doing it for a second time, it's working again. Also, I get an 'Attempted to read or write protected memory' error in an application that I use heavily (I'm trying to work that out with the developer).
I run Memotest and one of the RAM displayed an error in the first 5 seconds, the other didn't. Then I switched them over and run Memotest again on each and this time I saw no errors. I first used the first RAM card that showed no errors, but since the problems didn't stop, I put the other one in too.
Now simple applications like PSPad are failing with error messages. All those error seem system related rather than hardware-related, but I don't know. I don't even know if I should roll back the system because I didn't change any configuration, the installation is brand new, I just kept updating it.
Any suggestions?

Was the notebook turned on and running when your left it in the car?
-
Well, make sure you're all updated, run a virus scan if you can, and maybe run Memtest again, try running HDtune...
-
No, the computer was turned off in it's case under the seat.
-
I also forgot, that the Notebook Harware Control HD temperature is now always 00!
-
And it wasn't 00 before?
Now, I once left my laptop enclosed in it's black vinyl case for several hours when it was on and under serious stress running some program or something... I thought it would have gone into Suspend, but it didn't. The whole thing was quite hot to the touch, and I thought I'd damaged some components for sure, but it still works.
However, I did have Dell replace my GPU (and they do the mobo with it) a while back, since my display had crashed and frozen a few times, under various drivers and circumstances. I don't know if that was related. But if you're not showing any boot log errors (per my earlier link), you test all the hardware you can and it seems fine, you're all updated and have no virus, then I might contact HP and see if they'd troubleshoot and repair (if it's under warranty). -
Make sure you dont tell hp that u left it in your car.

115 F should do no harm to a computer.
-
115c was the outside temps, inside the car it will be amplified to an oven. (up to 200F)
Non operational temps for notebooks is around 150-170F -
115c. I would HATE to live wherever the OP is
-
lol woops i meant Fahrenheit
Anyway its the battery that you should worry about, since it probably has the lowest non-operational max temps. It could have exploded.
Now come to think of it, pop out your battery, it might be causing your issues. -
Glad to hear things are smoothed out.
Did I fry my computer?
