I have a su4100 dual core , it is designated a pentium according to cpu-z and the sticker on the notebook, according to this link below a pentium is a core2due with vt disabled with an 800fsb and no vt and less cache.
But I had a T6600 core2due and it has the same features as my SU4100 in 800 fsb, cache, and no Vt, and they are both 45nm according to this link
So why is one pentium and the other core2duo.
Intel has my head done in.![]()

It's all marketing. Celeron, Pentium, Core 2 Duos all use the same cores.
The difference is cache size and some features like VT and speedstep.
Said in other words, your SU4100 uses Core 2 Duo architecture. -

Would they not sell more if they used core2duo brand rather than Pentium , the image of Pentium is that it is old technology, it seems like a marking failure to keep using it, the same when they re-invented celeron.

This is their way of influencing people to buy more expensive CPUs than they really need.
Most people reason "I don't want Celeron or Pentium, I want Core 2 Duo."
Would they make more money with a different strategy? Perhaps, but I assume their marketing department knows what they're doing. -
People also think that the celeron is a crappy - as in it pops - processor.
Some people legitimately need a Core 2 (for VT, larger cache). For most people, a Pentium (or even celeron!) are required. -
Funny thing is SU2300 ("Celeron") has VT while SU4100 ("Pentium") doesn't.

I would like to see Intel explain that one.

i recommend u stay away from pentium and celeron processors... they're lousier than the normal core 2 duo processors... with less cache speed and features...
-
Sorry that's not true. No one will feel the difference between a SU4100 with 2MB cache and a SU7300 with 3MB cache. Both run at 1.3GHz.

I am quite happy with the performance of the SU4100 , the 7-8 hour battery life is great , it`s just Intel`s naming conventions that are confusing.
Difference - Pentium vs core2duo
