Hi,
Please look at these two:
Intel® Core2 Duo Processor P8400
2.26 Ghz, Level 2 cache 3 MB, 1066MHz Front Side Bus
Intel® Core 2 Duo T9300 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache)
Could tell me which one between these two you will choose? Which one is better?
Thanks for your help.

That's really not enough information. I would choose the P8400 because it's a newer platform, but you could argue that the T9300 will have better performance so that's the one to buy.
I am not sure of your situation, but those processors are not directly compatible. -
I would go for the T9300 as it is faster. I have it and it is a very fast processor!
Hope this helps!

The t9300 is faste because of higher clock speed and more l2 cache but the p8400 uses 10 watts less power for better battery life

the P series has 3MB cache vs 6MB ot the T series, the P series is also rated @ 25W TDP vs the 35W on the T series, leading to a slightly cooler processor and better battery life.
Both run in the same socket and are used in similar notebooks -
The P8400 is designed for Montevina, the T9300 is designed for Santa Rosa. While Santa Rosa chips will work in a Montevina chipset, Montevina chips will not function properly, if at all, in a Santa Rosa chipset. Hope this helps clear things up a little. -
Performance and batter life wise, the difference is very little (if at all negligible pending on tasks). We need more info on the rest of the laptop to determine the better laptop and what you plan on using your laptop for.

it would be replaceing my p8400 in my gateway fx 7805u. good move or no? i got two of these for free so thats why i ask.

If it were me, I'd look at something with a 1066 FSB and larger L2 cache. Pretty sure the T9600 has the faster bus speed and a 6mb cache..

You got two free T9300s?
I would sell them and get a Montevina chip, such as the T9600 suggested by Eric.
Additionally, I would hardly consider a P8400 to a T9300 an upgrade. -
Yep, i second that.
