Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new laptop and I'm a bit unfamiliar with all the new Intel processors. What are the major differences between the Core 2 Duo and Core Duo and does the extra price justify getting the Core 2 Duo? I'm looking at two of the Asus laptops in particular (A8Jm and the W3J) but both of these are Core Duo.
Thanks for any help.
Edit: I'm reading the 'Dell Core 2 Duo fever' thread... but I'm not too familiar with the technical aspects... so don't flame me for starting a new thread!

the core 2 duo is faster in benchmarks even at the same clock speeds (i.e. the core 2 duo 1.83 ghz is slightly faster than the core duo). the core 2 duo is 64-bit, while the core duo is 32 bit. those are the main differences.

In addition, don't know where you live, but the Core 2 Duo is not supposed to cost more than the Core Duo. Intel is manufacturing them at the same price watt for watt as the Core Duo.

there is SO MANY threads already that answers the above question that are on the front page
people should take the time to find their answer before creating another thread
