    1. I am going to purchase DELL XPS M1530. I am a bit confused about the processor selection whether it is T8100, T8300 or the T9300.

What I think is there is not much difference between T8100 and T8300.

But between T8300 against T9300, is that make a lot of difference?

Because I read that the T8300 L2 Cache is half of T9300 which is 3 against 6 MB. And the price definitely far away of difference.

What should I buy for my configurations below to get the best performance?

    Intel T8100 / T8300 / T9300 ?
    4GB DDR-2 RAM
    200 GB 7200 RPM Harddrive
    GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB DDR-2
    Intel Next-Gen Wireless
    Bluetooth
    LCD TrueLife TFT 1680x1050 15.4"

    2. What LCD, harddrive and mainboard brand does DELL XPS M1530 use? How can I know what brands they are? and is it possible for me to choose my favorite brand?

    Thank you very much.

I don't think it's possibly to choose an LCD panel. From what I've read, some people seem to be pretty unsatisfied with the LCD panel in their M1530, while others think it's great, which leads me to believe that it's the good ole parts lottery at work again :)

I think you should opt for the T8100, assuming you won't be wanting the extra power for processor-heavy work such as media encoding and the like. There's just not much of a point in a better processor for gaming, especially when paired with an 8600M GT...

    1. T8300 is the best price/performance choice, by far.

    2. LCD's are hit and miss, some get AUO, some get SEC (Samsung), others get LG. Some of the Samsungs are plagued by graininess issues, the LG (The one I got in my Vostro) displays are gorgeous.

I own a T8100 on my Vostro 1700 and a T9300 on my DV9700T. The only difference I've been able to tell is when I'm rendering a big video project. The T8100 is a mere 7 seconds slower than the T9300. If it's a huge price difference between the T8100/8300 and the T9300, go for the T8100 or T8300.

When I bought my Vostro, the T8300 was not an option or I probably would have gone with it just to be in the middle of the road between the three processors.

But running the T8100 and the T9300 side by side on my laptops, the difference is still negligible. The T9300 on the Vostro 1700 was $300 more than the T8100 and that was just too steep for not enough gain, imo. I was worried when I made this decision since I already had the T9300. But I'm really happy with the $300 I pocketed and the performance of the T8100.

I want to use it for programming, CAD programming, Internet browsing, word processing, gaming (PES 2008).

    So I'll take the T8300?

    Thank you.

Yes, go in for the T8300 if the price difference between T8100 and T8300 is negligible.

Dont even consider T9300 or T9500 because you wont find any difference and you're better off investing the money for a bigger hard drive or a spare hard drive to backup your data, or probably go in for additional warranty, instead of wasting money on the processor (it wont make any difference for your kind of usage...as per your above post)

If you were into video editing then I would have recommended the T9300 or T9500...thats a different story though!

Great info. I've been thinking about this one as well. I do a lot of gaming and thought the T9300 might be worth it.

id have to say the T8300 is worth it.

a T9300 which is just an extra 100mhz isnt worth the cost

    It's not just a 100MHz difference, there's a 3MB L2 cache difference too...

Neither the cache nor the 100MHz speed difference is noticeable at all to the "normal" user.
