Apparently my Dell e1405 shipped with Infineon DDR2 512mb PC4300 (CPU-z does not mention PC"2" for some reason, not sure if it's important or not).
On newegg, there's only one such PC2 4300 stick, and 43 PC2 4200 sticks. Both are rated at 533 mHz.
Is there any difference, which one is better, and will there be a compatibility issue if I get a 512/1g PC2 4200 stick?

no real difference.
you run at 4200 anyway
the pc2 just means it's ddr2 (which yours is) all pentium M's are -
Sweet thanks. Is the 4300 slightly (and likely un-noticeably) faster?
-
Well, nothing which wil be noticable. They are basically the same. The small change in the numbers is probably due to spcification changes made by the JEDEC(who set the standards for memory)
No, not necassarily. It is the chipset that matters. 9XX and above series Intel chipsets should be capable of using DDR2 memory. -

There is no difference between PC4200 and PC4300 as other posters have stated.
Memory is classified by multiplying the clock by 8.
So, 533MHz (clock) * 8 = 4264. It all depends on how manufacturers round - some round up to 4300, others round down to 4200. Same RAM. -
Awesome, the 4200's are cheaper anyways, thanks!
Difference between PC2 4300 and PC2 4200?
