The same ram, perhaps? Both are 1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 & their specs are the same too. Am i missing anything here?

Would it matter which one I bought?

The problem is, one of them is the RECOMMENDED ram for my notebook, but the other one is actually available on newegg. If I bought the non recommended one, seeing as how theyre the same specs, would it work for me?

They're exactly the same and they probably even have the exact same product number in the Crucial warehouse. The only difference is that with memory1, the user went through Crucial's memory selector, and with memory2, he found it himself.

It should...of course every RAM module has it's own little chip that controls it. Sometimes the configurations on that chip isn't compatible with some laptops. It'd probably work though. Lots of people buy chips that aren't specifically recommended for that particular laptop(like the Crucial chips, which are supposedly tested to be compatible), but as long as the specs match the requirements of the laptop manufacturer, then it should be fine. There are cases though where certain ram modules just aren't compatible with certain laptops, even though the basic specs match.

spud, I bought a gig of RAM off newegg for my M60, the Kingston Value RAM. It has worked great for over 4 months now, without a problem. I just didn't buy the model specific for my Toshiba and saved over $50. The same thing from Toshiba was $400. Just be sure to read thru the comments, as the memory I purchased wasn't compatible with an ibook.
