I'm looking to upgrade my laptop from 1GB to 2GB to get ready for Windows Vista so I check out online prices (and I have been for quite some time). One thing I've noticed is that always around Feb/Mar, RAM prices are MUCH cheaper than they are the rest of the year. When I bought my first 1GB DDR2 stick, I ended up paying only $80 total for everything. When I checked about November of last year, the price had shot up to $125 shipped (amazing I know!) Now the price has gone back down to about $100 shipped, but not as great as it could be.
Anyway, on to my real question: I have 2 sticks I'm interested in on newegg.com. One is the same one I purchased before (exact same color of package too) and the other would be compatible with my system but it's apparently $20 cheaper. What's the difference and why is it worth $20?

My laptop takes DDR2 533Mhz RAM, that I know for sure. CAS latency is the same too. Can someone spot the difference?

Links don't work.

Notebook RAM is generally the same all around. DDR2-533 hasn't changed so if you need another stick, as long as it is DDR2-533 it will work fine.

Any DDR2-533 sticks would work. I see no reasons why they won't

Ok, I fixed the links again. Now can someone spot the difference for me please? There isn't going to be any negligible difference if I run dual channel with sticks that aren't the same, is there? I've always been told that you should try to get the same sticks whenever possible.

Dual channel doesn't bring much more power or speed in work.

Dual-channel doesn't make much of a difference, no.
Thanks for fixing the links. I took a look at the sticks, and despite the price difference, I see nothing odd about either stick. They both have the the same specifications and lifetime warranties. Either one will work fine with your notebook.
Differences in RAM?
