    Hello,

I recently ordered a Lenovo T420 4177 and have read about an mSATA that will decrease boot time length. I know the bare minimum about computers and was wondering if anyone could tell me the exact directions or a link to them that indicates how to insert the mSATA and how to install it or whatever?

Also is the Intel 310 Series 80GB mSATA available anywhere else other than Newegg for less than $199.99?

    Thanks.

Would the 320 work? It seems cheaper? Is it better worse?

Also that link didn't really help, lol? Is there anything better?

The 320 would work, but you'd have to use your regular SATA bay (and I'm not sure whether or not the T420 requires a 7mm height drive in that bay, but there are versions of the 320 to accommodate that). The 320 should be cheaper per GB, and will be somewhat faster (at least in benchmarks).

Okay so this Intel 310 Series 80GB mSATA is probably my best bet?
Will it for sure work on my T420? I'm buying it from the Canadian site and it's model number is 4177. I don't want to end up paying $200.00 for something that doesn't work. lol.

And I'm still trying to find some detailed instructions on installation.

It's the same part number, so it'll be the same. The place from which I ordered mine had it labeled as an X25-M 80GB mSATA and had the same pic as the second link, but had the proper Intel part number.

Other people have been able to install an mSATA drive in their T420... And installation instructions? Man, I gave you the link in my first reply. Try spending a minute looking through the logical flow of information on that page. It's probably listed as WWAN instructions, which uses the same slot.
