Basically what I want to do is use the speakers on my laptop and hook my ButtKicker up to the headphone jack so it can get the audio.

I really like the speakers on my laptop (true built-in 5.1...sounds very nice!) but have no way of getting audio to my ButtKicker except through the headphone jack which then disables my laptop speakers. Ive looked everywhere on my PC and there doesnt seem to be a way to disable headphone detection as there was on my X-Fi in my HTPC...

The audio outs that I have are HDMI (useless) and a headphone/digital out and a microphone input.

Speakers are Altec Lansing and the audio is a ALC888 codec by Realtek.

Anyone know what I can do?

Most headphone jacks physically shift the sound signal from one circuit to another with the headphones plugged in... unless things have changed hugely in the last few years.

    Doesn't the buttkicker have a pass-through?

Pass through? Im using the speakers built into my laptop...no way to pass audio out using them I guess.

No way to convert the Mic port to work as an audio output?

I mean a passthrough on the buttkicker. Can you not plug the headphones into it?

Sorry, it was gone 3am here and I had the headphone jack in my mind.

Does the buttkicker accept a digital(coax) input?

I suppose if all you want is a kicked butt this might be a reasonable idea . .
Personally I would get a set of powered speakers including a bass unit and a two way headphone splitter to feed your buttkicker from the same output. That should be a lot more immersive than scratch scratch squeek, butt kick

    Just my 2c

ALSO...I have a USB microphone with a built in headphone jack...anyway to reroute this headphone jack to support audio out while still using the laptop speakers?
