Hey to all. Firstly i would apologize to all for posting a wrong question in the forum.
I have a hp pavilion dv5-1235dx laptop. the problem with it that its displays start to flickers as and when the laptop sees fit. I am worried because i do not understand why this is happening. The laptop is only about 7 months old (i bought it 7 months ago). The stupid thing that happened at the time of purchase is that i asked a family member to get me the laptop and he bought me a refurbished hp laptop. Now that the warranty is expired i do not what to do??????
Can anyone please point out what the problem might be???? Should i sell this laptop and buy a new one ??????

It sounds like your video cable is likely loose or discontinuous since the problem occurs when the laptop lid is moved around. Chances are very good that a simple fix is called for, or that you may have to buy an inexpensive part to get your laptop functional again. You'll have to dismantle the laptop and ensure that the cable is plugged in. If that doesn't work, then there are three further possibilities:
    - the wire itself is not continuous (results from repetitive open/closing)
    - the LCD inverter (power supply) has failed
    - the LCD backlight has failed (light source for LCD panel)

The last two possibilities are unlikely, but in any case the disassembly instructions for your model can be found below:

That confirms that nothing is wrong with the GPU, then.

one of the wires connecting the display to the motherboard or what is loose... i would diassemble the laptop and check whether any cables are broken or loose...

I had the sample problem when 3 months after buying my dv5-1235dx. I sent it back to HP and they fix since it was still under warranty. Now I just started having the same problem but since the laptop is no longer under warranty I'm going to open it today and check for loose or broken wires. I'll post my findings...

I took my laptop apart, I did notice that the data wire coming from the display was a little bent almost with a kink (this wire is by the left hand hinge). The manual does not include a replacement part # for this cable and I'm not sure that the cable is the problem. I also took a part the display assembly to check for lose or broken wires. After putting the laptop back together I found out that the problem only got worse. Here is the manual I used in case you want to give it a try http://www.retrevo.com/s/HP-DV5-1235-Laptops-review-manual/id/23204ag505/t/1-2/
Let me know if you have better luck
