They do. What capacity or speed are you looking for?

They do exist, but almost all of the PATA drives not with exotic form factors and/or interfaces are made with JMicron controllers and subsequently junk. I'd say your best bet is probably to look for a 1.8" drive made by Intel, Samsung, or Mtron and try to find an appropriate adapter, whether it be PATA ZIF to PATA or SATA to PATA, etc.

I just came across this thread, and was interested in finding a 1.8 zif to pata or even sata, thought I'd just mention the site extremedeals.com appears to have gone out of business and is now for sale.

If you have a Intel ICH5/6/7/8 chipset, the PATA interface is limited to UDMA-5/ATA-100. A PATA-to-SATA bridge can do 81MB/s on it, or 87MB/S using native PATA as per this post. So if you can organise a SATA-to-PATA bridge, Samsung 100/80 or 90/70 SATA SSD, or mtron 100/100 SATA SSD would be well matched for the interface. See the thread For those with PATA wanting SATA here to see how to make/get a SATA-to-PATA bridge.

    Try www.dvnation.com

If you don't want a converter and need reliability, as Phil said, go w/ Mtron.

    pata on rocketdisk

i bought some sata and some zif/pata disks from them. the disks are great, and the company is quite pleasing to buy stuff from.

32gb (wich will be 30gb in the end) would be for 279$. not cheap by todays standards. but the disk will be very snappy (beats all samsungs i have, even the newest "much faster" ones. still to this day.. :)
