I suggest instead of getting a faster processor, get faster internet connection instead.

There are pretty much no new laptops with a 4:3 screen, you'll have to buy used if you want that.

A faster processor will not help your web-browsing speed. Get a faster internet connection and router if you want better browsing speed.

I'd agree on that one, but you may notice some slight improvement getting a faster laptop. The connection speed for your internet will be the main thing though.

yeah, fast internet connection would definately help, the only thing that CPU would help with is some flash and java features.

a faster internet connection would help the most. old computer hardware is still sufficient enough for internet surfing and yours are more than capable of handling web pages.

clean out your browser would help as well. Google and download CCleaner to help clean out your temporary internet files and cache that builds up if you don't remove them.

Might also want to increase the tcp/ip max half open to something like 50 so you can download data from sites couple times faster. Though, this is unethical because this puts too much strain on servers.

Observe your CPU usage in the task manager with Ctrl-Alt-del.

If your CPU usage is often at 100% when loading new pages, a faster CPU will speed up page loading.

If your CPU usage does not reach 100% when loading pages, a CPU upgrade will not speed up page loading.

But if your CPU usage does reach 100% first check your system for unnecessary processes in the background before you start upgrading.

Try using Firefox with addons Flashblock and Adblock Plus. It will not play the ads and make your PC faster.

As an alternative you can also try Google Chrome, which has faster page loading than Firefox.

Upgrading the CPU is not worthwhile for a number of reasons, but the Atom is not upgradeable at all because it is soldered to the motherboard.

If you'd like web pages to load faster, you can use a faster browser such as Google Chrome. Firefox is not very fast, while IE8 is even worse (though still a good browser).

The only reason that would justify getting a faster PC then what you have is that internet browsers have become a lot more beefy then they were in the Pentium M days. But to be honest its not so much that a P-M would need an upgrade. So I vote no for a new CPU.
