Hello all,
I have been eyeing on the (expensive) Soundblaster Audigy PCMCIA notebook sound card ( http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=204&product=10769)... and I have one question:
Does it increase headphone volume? My ASUS notebook maximum headphone volume is rather disappointing.
Thanks in advance!

yeah, after you put it in and install a driver, the volume will increase the original one because of a different audio chip from a hardware and driver. The sound from audio increase, not only the internal speakers increase, it also can make the headphone volume increase.

maybe the problem is with your headphones, there are different headphones in the market...

I had a similar problem when I used to watch xvid movies, I discovered that it is the audio codec!
Maybe it is that!
To test your hardware a bit more, try to use one of those wave edit program and increase the gain for an audio file.
This is all I could think of...
If you wanna go a bit further and take a risk, then open your laptop and short circuit the resistance before the audio plug, this will increase your volume significantly, but be careful doing so... don't overheat the board with the solder. -

If the problem exsist in the internal speakers as well, then you can do the step I mentioned perviously, follow the wires that come from the speakers, and the first onboard resistance sould be short circuited.
I offer no guarantees, but if I had a volume problem that would be an option for me!
Why to buy a pcmcia card when you can fix the problem of something built in?
You will have to open your laptop... if you never did that before, then I advise you to get help from somebody who knows about stuff like that.
Do PCMCIA sound cards increase volume?
