I currently have an Alienware M9700 with specs like this:

    AMD Turion ML-40 2.2GHz
    single nVidia 7900GS 256mb
    1GB DDR2
    Corsair 32gb SSD
    1920X1200 screen

As you could imagine, a single 7900 isn't quite doin' it for me at 1200p.

Ever since i aquired this laptop last week, i have been searching for a second matching 7900GS 256mb.

I was recommended to this site by a friend (still working on the requirements to post in the WTB section), and i noticed a thread that mentioned master and slave cards for Crossfire 3870s.

Now, i am mostly a desktop guy, and we haven't had master/slave cards since the X1900 days.

Does SLI with 2 7900GS' require a master and slave card, or can i just pick up any old mobile 7900GS and slap it in here?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

(if this is in the wrong section, chill out, i'm new here)

One should be marked master and the other slave.

I think the 7900GS is old enough that it would require a master/slave relationship, so I think in your case you need to find a "slave" 7900GS. Alternatively, you could get any old mobile 7900GS and flash a slave vBIOS to it, which should have the same effect.
