i heard that the ati radeon 3200 cards have 256 mb dedicated and the rest is shared, does that mean the second one with 64mb dedicated is worse?
-
-
also, can both of these run tf2 smoothly at medium to high settings? or maybe even medium to low?
-
Looks like they both have the ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics.
I have no clue as to whether they will be able to play the game you're asking for (I have no clue about games). -
The HD3200 is about equivalent to the Intel GMA X4500HMD.
It is not a great graphics card, it is an integrated solution. You should look for at least an nVidia 9500mGS or a ATi 3650 in order to play games smoothly

The second one (the Touchsmart) is actually better, since it has 64MB dedicated. The first one lacks dedicated graphics RAM (you can see this since the maximum possible total in the first one is 1918; the second one is 1982, a difference of 64MB, the dedicated memory amount).
In either case, these aren't great for gaming, but they should be able to run TF2 at low settings smoothly (no first hand experience, so don't trust me here). -
Another note: if you're willing to spend ~$900 (which I assume you are, since you were looking at the Touchsmart), the dv6t or dv6z is a much much better buy - you can get a more powerful graphics card that can run TF2 on high settings fluently.
I just quickly specced out a dv6t here, for $949.99:

Wait, since when a Radeon HD 3200 on par with a 4500MHD? I was under the impression that the Radeon was the first real step beyond Intel's crappy GMAs towards decent performance - and the GeForce 9400M G took the next step, of course.
-
yea i was pretty sure that the radeon 3200 was a decent well performing card. ive heard most people can run crysis on it on low settings. even left 4 dead too. So i dont get it why wont it play tf2? did u guys actually test it on the card or are you guys just saying this just because its intergrated

Take a look at plasma's GPU chart in the thread below.

I can run HL2 with 128 mb video card, I'm very sure your TF2 will do just fine with 256 mb, the game engine is just the same compared with HL2 after all... You would probably be able to play it in medium settings.

To OP: if you want to game, please consider a different computer. This one would do nicely:

Do these two laptops have the same graphics cards?
