    I'm just curious, do you guys have or carry around a second battery for your laptop?

    Yes, I used to. The only bad part was having to hibernate it to switch batteries. Other than that, I carried a 6 cell in it and 6 cell and 9 cell out of it. With all power savings enabled, I was able to work all day long without leaving the beach. It does feel great not have to worry about having enough battery left to do anything I want to do.

    I only use 1. Just a tip to the OP, it'll be easier to compare results with a poll.

    Thanks - I just tried and I can edit my first post but I can't add a poll anymore.

    I did when I had a trip to Europe. I brought 2 batteries and it was more than enough to keep me entertained on the 10 hour flight. Normally though I wouldn't carry an extra battery because battery life is good enough to keep me going between outlets.

    On my G73 I don't have a second battery, it's basically a desktop machine unless I need to take it to class for an hour or two.
    The terrible D600 I got from work is great since it has hot swappable batteries in place of the ODD, I could literally go all day since I've got 3 swappable batteries as well as an extra internal (took them just because they were getting tossed).

    Normally I make it a habit to purchase a back up battery for all my battery powered portables. But I have yet to find a reliable affordable extended battery for the HDX 18. As you know, prices can vary considerably

    I did with my old toshiba.

    But right now I'm never away from power for more than 3hrs so I don't need a second battery, though I might buy one soon.

    I probably would if I could find a reputable battery seller in Australia, for my Toshiba. It REALLY needs an extended battery. Then again, my case doesn't enough room for an extended battery, when I have the charger in it...

    Could be that the OP may be staying away from an AC outlet for extended periods of time.

    Like being on a 6-hour flight, when your battery only lasts 3 hours. Extra battery FTW.

    The thing is, the OP asked wether "we" are carrying a battery, and the answer I gave is "no, why".

    Everybody's needs are different - but for me, why should I carry one?
    If you are flying, that doesn't mean I need to carry one ;)

    On older laptops, I might. With newer ones, go for the largest capacity and enjoy the convenience of not carrying a spare battery (some batteries I've used were nearly as heavy as laptop itself)

    I keep spare batteries around for most of my main business laptops and when I need then then I will toss one in my kit.

    I do normally keep a second media bay battery on a CF-30 toughbook and use and ASUS UL30 so I dont need to haul alot of batteries normally

    Yeah because a battery is so much more convenient than an AC adapter and having to fight over outlets. That and I found my battery for supercheap on eBay.

    That is why I always carry one of these with me. It is small, convenient, and easy to carry in a laptop bag. Best of all, you always have access to a power outlet in airports, even when they are all occupied. Just go up to whomever is using it, show them the splitter, and ask to share power with them.

    Never fails.

    So you answered his question with a question that answered his question. Wait! What?

    Did you just question his answer to a question that answered the question with a question? I question that.

    Haha, good call! I guess I was referring to all the cords too, my power brick is like an actual brick (120W) with like 10 feet of cord, so a spare 6 cell usually gets me through what I need. Maybe I'm just asking to be annoying though, haha. :)

    @woofer and Krane:
    Code:
    int replynum = 3; //increment by one for each reply
    void question(int level);
    void answer(int level);

    void question(int level)
    {
    	cout <<"question that was an ";
    	if (level > 0)
    		answer(level-1);
    }

    void answer(int level)
    {
    	cout << "answer to a ";
    	if (level > 0)
    		question(level-1);
    }

    int main()
    {
    	cout << "You question the ";
    	question (replynum * 2 - 1);
    	cout << "question with a question?";
    	return 0;
    }
    Output:
    Code:
    You question the question that was an answer to a question that was an answer to
     a question that was an answer to a question with a question?
    Slow day at work lol

    Great idea but too big for my bag :D

    Usually the adapter is lighter but i assume that the G73's adapter is way heavier than the battery! But i won't have more space so i'd carry the adapter anyways.

    I am going to purchase an extra battery that I can carry in my laptop bag. Does anyone make a hard case to place their spare laptop battery in? I want it protected while in my laptop bag. So, anyone make a small case that fits the laptop battery pretty well without adding additional bulk than the battery already does?
