Just wondering? Do you install any other programs on your OS partition? Such as your antivirus, spyware programs, Office, and such? Or, do you install it on the secondary partition? Is it beneficial to have an additional partition for games, music, pictures, etc...?![]()

I install them all on the OS partition. I have 1 partition per drive. I keep my data on a separate 500GB HDD.

All my apps (and the OS) go on the primary partition.
All my files (photos, music, videos, downloads) goes on the second partition.
It keeps things tidy, makes it easier to do a reinstall, keeps the OS on the faster part of the disc, reduces the need for defragging as much etc. -
The ideal situation for me is a fast raptor/equivelent hard drive for the OS and apps then a 2nd large hard drive for all your files. -

Defraging with good software will automatically put the most frequently used file on the edge of the disk. That way, you'll have lower access time and faster average throughtput. -
I know what you're getting at - a theoretical situation where you might have a massive empty space in the 'middle' of the drive, and the head is swinging back and forth past this to access the OS and data at the same time.
But that example is not valid in my case.
Do you install your antivirus on your OS partition?
