Say I pair a USB Mouse with a USB Bluetooth adapter

    1) Is the pairing information stored on the USB Bluetooth Adapter ? or is it stored in the OS ?
    2) Can I pair a mouse in Windows, then reboot into Linux and also use the Mouse ?

    REGARDS !!!

what i am looking for is a bluetooth usb adapter that natively remembers the pairing information ... so that i do not need to configure my os to use it

i would like to be able to use my mouse in macrium reflect with the bluetooth adapter too

can someone please recommend a usb bluetooth adapter that stores the pairing information

i would like to use the adapter with the new razer orichi mouse that is coming out in a few weeks time

    THANK !!!

That's not technically possible. The Bluetooth spec demands the host to handle this information.

Well it is technically possible but then the adapter has to be an all in one solution and not a host adapter. It would be like having your phone interface with your PC by usb but then using a BT headset in the phone, not that I know of any phone that does this but they could. The same with the mouse etc, there are no adapters I am familiar with other than prematched wireless mice that do this and I do not think any of them use the BT spectrum or spec.

In which protocol should the adapter communicate with the host then?

For a customized setup, sure, you can do whatever you want to get the information through. For a general purpose BT adapter there's nothing you can do about the third party OS that needs to recognize you.

I'm sure it's possible to reinvent the wheel and convert BT to something else with some parts of the BT protocol, like converting a BT mouse/headset to a USB HID device. But there's no global solution.

Right it does not exist as it is not practice not because it is impossible. It can be done, just like there are wireless mice or proprietary BT 3D glasses with an internal dongle that is treated as a USB device (Samsung). So I agree there is no global solution as there is no such need that is in nigh enough demand to make it a marketable device. But it is still technically possible.

Edit; to the OP the short answer is no device exists on the market that I know of, and while it is technically possible there more than likely is not a market for such a device as it would be costly as it would have to convert the device from a BT to a USB device (signals, latency and a host of other issues especially including cost).

I had not noticed the thread this was in, since it is a hardware question I have moved it appropriately.

The first is the same as playing music through your phone using the car's speakers (which accepts analog input).

The second is only designed to transmit a serial data stream via bluetooth. Your mouse won't know how to work with it.

The link I see makes the device over a com port, for a mouse this should be fine so long as it presents itself as a mouse. The other issue is it is only BT 2.0, that could be an issue with the hardware.
