I've been trying in vein all night to try and buy an Intel SSD HD and it seems like noone has it in stock for some reason. Im sure someone here knows where I can get one and hopefully at a decent price. The best I saw was for 750$ but that seems high considering the early reviews all said they could be had for $600.
Thanks!

One member so far has sited sporadic lockups with the Intel SSD, so you may want to veer away if this problem is a known issue with the drive.
It seems a lot of SSD's have this random lockup because I believe they use the JMicron controller for the data bus. The chip cannot keep up with the speed of the memory, causing the chip to become overloaded and cause sporadic freezing issues.
their may be a firmware revision to fix this in a few months, but there is no real way to know or not.

X-25M at a decent price... good luck.
I have been considering the purchase as well, but I decided against it because: prices are very unstable and I dont want to end up kicking myself for overpaying, the technology is still very new and so still has its issues, and I want to see a response from other SSD manufacturers before I go the Intel route. -

Check out this month's CPU Magazine for reviews and info on the SSD, 2.5" & 3.5" hard drives. I lent it to a friend or I would post some info from it.

SLC is the way to go but MLC still is ok. Depends on what you are doing. -
I'd say it's a problem with the I/O and nothing else. If a disc can't read/write many I/O at the same time it causes lockups. If it would have been a speed-issue maxing the controller, it would just max out the chip and not vice versa.
I've never heard a complaint about the SSD when used as a storage, only as OS-disc. And an OS does alot of I/O's.
Does anyone know WHERE to get an Intel X25-m? (at a good price?)
