I am trying to overclock this notebook. I dont think that SetFSB has this motherboard in there supported database. Does anyone know that clock generator (PLL) for this model? Or even perhaps software that can overclock the cpu on this mobo?

I couldn't find any info via search (I'm sure you tried that already too), so if you don't get an answer, you may have to open up the laptop and check yourself. I had to do this for a Dell D830 laptop because I couldn't find PLL info on the net at the time, and the PLL was on the bottom of the mainboard so I had to remove the board completely. Also, having one model of a laptop doesnt mean that all of them will have the same PLL, I've seen Dells of the same model that ended up having different PLL clock generators. However turned out that mine wasn't supported in SetFSB. It looked like it might be supported in Crystal CPUID, but that wasnt the case either. Crystal supports more PLL IDs so check that program too if SetFSB doesn't have yours. Good luck

For anyone who wants to overclock this laptop get the FSB version 2.3.163.129 and select the "ASUS G73JH". Then hit "get FSB". From there you can overclock the G42t i believe. Abo the creator of FSB trouble shooted the problem with me because i couldnt open my new notebook, and HP didnt seem to have the Pll on file for some reason... So anyone who wants to overclock the i3 380m HERE YOU ARE! Good luck, I will be testing this out with the Dolphin Wii and gamecube emulator. If anyone has any questions feel free to email me/pm me!

HP would never tell you the PLL. Generally, most of us discover the PLL when we open up the notebook and look about for it.

But good on you for finding out what it is and sucessfully o/c'ing it. :)

Generally speaking, unless the CPU in your notebook is known to be overclockable, you are going to have a tough time overclocking it successfully.

I don't really want to overclock it permanently, only when im emulating the Wii, I need the extra power. It seems i successfully overclocked to 3.2, but I will continue to test for stability. Something strange that I encountered was; when I overclock to 3.0gHz on my q6600 my Wii games run smooth on the emulator (Mario Kart Wii), but when I overclock to 3.2 on the i3 processor in notebook the FPS is still pretty low for some reason...Any idea's? Perhaps Processor architecture? 8mb cache vs 3mb cache?

Might not be getting enough voltage for that overclock. Back off on the clock a little.

What are you using to test stability?

I think that it has more to do with the fact that the Q6600 is a quad-core CPU while the i3 is only dual-core.
