    Does i7-640m work in i7-620m socket?

    My laptop says it is compatible with an i7-620m. Does this mean that it can take an i7-640m as well since they're very similar? Also, does the i7-620m/640m have the GPU built into the CPU?

    Yes, Yes, but you may consider buying a i5-580M, which benchmarks faster than a i7-620M and is cheaper.

    I agree there is no point in buying the 620M, but stop saying that. If the 580M beats the 620M in any benchmark, there is clearly something else at issue.

    But OP, the 640M has only a 5% boost in clockspeed over the 580M. If there is any significant difference in price, it is wise to just get the 580M because the difference is so small.

    OK thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind. However, the i7-620M seems to be cheaper than the i5-580m lol. I'll weigh my options :)

    If they're similar in price absolutely go for the i7-620m. If it's cheaper... of course go for it lol
