I have a Toshiba Satellite L655-S5150, and I read an article about adding an mSATA SSD hard disk. I don't know if my laptop has mSATA. I even posted on the Toshiba Forums, and nobody replied there. I can't seem to find the answer. I know if I have it, it will be inside, and I have no problem opening it up, that's what I do for a living.
Thanks

It seems unlikely, though I'm not super familiar with Toshibas.
-
No, you do not. I've searched your system specs and the tear down vids for your notebook's model class. It was not designed to support an mSATA SSD. Lo siento.
-
Ok, thank you. Where were you able to find the specs? I have been looking for them everywhere. I can only find the ones that they give to the public, and those ones are too simple.
thanks -
The P6200 is an Arrandale CPU, but you didn't get bootable mSATAs until Sandy Bridge.

Here are your specs: Toshiba Satellite L655-S5150 Specs (15.6" - P P6200 - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - 4 GB RAM - 320 GB HDD) - Laptops - CNET Reviews
And it's just like Zaz said. mSATA support wasn't introduced in most notebooks until Series 6 (Sandy Bridge). Whereas your notebook has a HM55 (Series 5) setup. -
Well, good to know. Thanks. But how do you know it is a series 5 setup? I'm sure it is, but the article on CNET doesn't say anything about it.
I wouldn't expect CNET to even mention mSATA or chip sets since they never talk about advanced stuff. -
Your specs under CNET list your chipset as an HM55 chipset. That first number denotes the series. Just like the HM67 denoted a series 6 Chipset (Cougar Bridge) meant for the Sandy Bridge CPUs.
You will notice in this page which lists all the Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge chipsets ( LGA 1155 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), that the first number of all the sandy bridge chipsets are 6 and the first number of all the ivy bridge chipsets are 7. Hence, series 6, and series 7. Just like the Nehalem/Clarksfield chipsets were all denoted as HM55 or PM55, etc. Series 5
Does my laptop have mSATA?
