I was just thinking (don't do that very often). I know there's WiDi for laptop to a WiDi display. But why not like a laptop or desktop to a tablet-like touch screen display. Something to use around home or work. Wouldn't have to be really high resolution. But it wouldn't need to do more than process a stream from your desktop that would do all the heavy work. Not sure what protocol it would use, wi-fi or some sort of proprietary wireless connection through USB.
Something like this would be reasonably inexpensive. And perhaps have the ability to drive multiple devices, depending on bandwidth of course.
I was thinking this would be awesome for (smaller) kids at home too so they could play their flash games, youtube, whatever around home.
Of course now in dream world, it could also act on its own like a media player.

yes there is, called HP touchpad(?) that was on clearance for 99. though sold out within hours
That price actually is what a Pad should be selling for. All the full price pad(be it apple or rimm or samsung) are way over priced item with very limited usage(basically what you describe). -
Yeah, and I missed out on getting two HP's because my order was cancelled

Don't worry, HP will be doing a limited run in October to take care of remaining stock. Maybe you'll be able to snatch one then htwingnut.
Does such a thing exist? Wireless Touchpad Display?
