I was wondering if all processors work at the same speed no matter what laptop installed in. I was looking at an Acer Timeline 3810t model and a Lenovo u350 model both with the the CULV SU2700. Does this mean since both have the exact same processors and about the same specs in terms of memory, etc that they will operate at about the same performance?

In terms of what the processor will do, yes. However, almost everything you would actually do on a computer involves a _lot_ more than just the processor. For one thing, most programs need to be loaded off a harddrive, so the speed of the harddrive immediately becomes a factor. Then, of course, depending on what exactly the program involves graphically, the graphics card will have to get involved. Also, if the program needs to communicate over a network, then the network card (and how it's connected!) will become another factor. Basically, it's kind of like asking if you'd get same performance out of, say, a specific model of car engine if it's mounted in 2 different model cars. Sure, the engine will perform the same, but the final performance of the cars will depend on the transmission, tires, brakes, and a whole lot of other details.

Very specifically, yea they will ALL perform differently to eachother, although with different laptops you're looking at the whole system itself. So of course they themselves will be different.
Does the same processor perform differently in different laptops or always the same?
