Does the y510p (59388313) have an ngff connector?

I know the best thing to do would be to open up my laptop but due to non-explainable reasons I cannot do that. I just want to know that if I see a good deal on a ngff ssd I know if I should buy it or not. Otherwise I'm going to wait and upgrade my primary hard drive. Thanks!

Any Y510p that comes with the 24GB SSD cache is guaranteed to have the M.2. connector. If it has the 8 GB cache then it is a 50/50 chance of having it.

Ya thats what I thought I have the 8gb hybrid hdd. Does adding/ soldering a connector void the warranty?

Yes, it would also be very hard to do without a flow station. One little screw up and you could damage your motherboard.

Would never in a million years risk that over a NGFF connector.
For 100$ you can get a 1Tb 7200RPM HDD, 150$ a 2Tb (15mm). If your willing to risk your entire notebook for a SSD then get a 480gb for like 225$.

ok I won't try to add an ngff connector but honestly they should publicize the ngff slot more not only will it be good for them but for consumers so they know what they are buying.

NGFF is still pretty new, we will most likely start seeing it in tablets since you can have a much greater storage capacity before most notebooks have them. I'd be willing to bet that the new Maxwell based clevo/sager and others will contain them since they have to refresh the boards anyways, especially those with the integrated graphics processors (860m etc).

The y510p also has the capacity to add an ultrabay HDD bay.
