My laptop screen is doing some weird pixel scrambling. When the laptop is hooked up to an external video source, the other monitors do not show the pixel scrambling, only the laptop screen is.
Also, it pretty much only does this when there are black or dark pixels on the screen. so if there is a black background on a site, it is a lot more likely to do it then if there was a brighter background. It doesn't occur just in the position of the picture, but on a lot of different spots of the screen as well.

Since there is no problem when using external monitors, then the GPU is fine.
The problem lies with the LCD, check the LCD ribbon cables. First, the connection on the motherboard. -
looks to me like an entire side of dead pixels
-
it doesnt do it all the time. a majority of the time the whole screen is fine. at first it seemed like it only did it when the laptop was on for a while. but that doesnt always seem to be the case. iv used a program to warm up the cpu and gpu but it didnt do the scrambling after those programs.
But I will check the connections soon. just seeing if anyone else has seen this before and has another fix. -
It doesnt look like a loose cable, but you can try reseating the lcd ribbon cable. I agree with madoon, it looks like something hit your screen pretty hard in that area, causing all of the pixels to become stuck or dead. If reseating the lcd cable does not fix anything, it looks like you need a new screen.

But dont dead and stuck pixels stay a color? This only happens some times and when it does, it kinda looks like what an old tv set looks like when there is no channel on.(black and white with the chhhhhhh) lol.

LCD panels are expensive. So you can try to get a replacement display cable from ebay (they are not expensive) and see if this fix your problem. You see the display cable is composed of lot of wires, and one of them might be broke.
Let us know if this helps -
I have the exact same problem! and its ruining my life!!! lol
seriously though its annoying as hell and Ive been looking everywhere for a solution to it. It doesnt look like a very common thing.
Im going to try and fix the screen cable somehow.... -
BTW!
hyawatha15, Im interested in if you fixed the problem and how you did it!
so please could you post it up here? cheers -
His last visit to notebook review was about 4.5 months ago.
Since you do not have the option to send a Personal Message, I will send him one. Maybe he can come online and tell you what worked

I had the same problem. It ended up needing a new screen. Dead pixels.
