Guys [and gals], I wanted to find out if my laptop takes SATA drives or IDE drives, so I went to device manager, found drive and typed the whole code into google
hitachi HTS542525K9SA00
This is one of the results from the first page
Now newegg, lists the drive as SATA, so I'm guessing that is what my notebook has right??
Sorry for sounding like a n00b, I just want to double check![]()

Thanks alot man
so basically next time I go shopping for a drive, [say WD Scorpio black 320GB 7.2k], it should be SATA

Your laptop uses 2.5" SATA drives. (9.5MM Thick)
Basically dont choose the Hitachi 5K500, or the Fujitsu 500gb 5400rpm drive. (They are 12.5mm thick)
Other than that pretty much every other SATA drive will fit.
