    Hi all

If you configure the Sony Vaio S15, two of the configuration options are:
    • 750GB (7200rpm) hard drive
    • 512GB (256GB x2) solid state drive with RAID 0 (+$785.00)

    What does this mean?
Does this mean that the Vaio has space for 2 harddrives as the two SSDs are in RAID?
Does it only come with space for 1 harddrive if you order the 750GB HDD and 2 if you order the 512GB SSD?

Also, is $785.00 for a 512 SSD a lot? Crucial's 512GB SSD sells on Amazon for $400 ( link). Is it less good because it's not in RAID?

Finally, can I buy the 750GB configuration of the Vaio and then replace the HDD by the Crucial SSD? Do I need an adapter/caddy, or does it just fit in?

    Thanks :)

785$ for 1 SSD is a lot. Crucial m4 is good..but I think the Samsung 840 PRO or the Samsung 830 512/500GB SSDs are better (Quality/Performance)

Replacing the HDD with a SSD should be pretty standard. It should just 'fit in'.

It is likely that you have 1 mSATA slot and one standard 2.5" drive bay which would explain why RAID SSD is offered, but not RAID HDD.

Yep. He's right. One drive bay only.
So they're likely doing the mSATA - SATA RAID.
