My current Hard Drive is failing, and it is an old ATA model from 4 years ago when I bought my laptop. I am wondering whether the motherboard even supports SATA since it's rather dated in the world of computers!
The motherboard:
Quanta 3610 15.2D
Chipset: Intel PM45
Southbridge: Intel 82801IM (ICH9-M)
I tried Googling it, but haven't found anything conclusive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would say it does at first glance, you can always take out the drive and check for yourself.

If it has a PATA drive connector for the HDD no I very much doubt it. some had SATA for HDD and OATA for optical drive
what is the motherboard out if? -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
4 years means 2008 = all SATA. Could be an off chance if you owned a Sony, it could be PATA SSDs.

Not unlikely as I believe Quanta manufactures some Sony laptops, as well as the HP 2510p and other ultraportables.
Basically even the old core 1 duo 945 chipset supports SATA, but its up to the manufacturer to put a SATA port or a PATA port onboard. The Compal model HBL50 for example has multiple motherboard revisions, some with and without SATA.
Yeah but once you get to pm965 and pm45 its all SATA except on ultraportables that use 1.8" drives. Its SATA. Appears to be an HP HDX 18? That would've made it easier to answer your question. -
If its an HDX 18 its only SATA ports inside of it, however its run off a special cable that runs power and data over a single plug off the motherboard, depending on how you got it you'll have either one or two of these.
Does this motherboard support SATA?
