I've had the laptop in my sig 2 years come June.
The wd hdd that came with it I assume is still fine.

    This is the Seagate test.

I've only had the seagate as my mine boot drive since September of last year.

The problem I've been having is that my computer would just go to a black screen when loading a level on counter strike source.
I've also have had random clicking noises from it since December that I have noticed.
It also seems that the hdd is slower then it was when I first got it. (i.e doing defrag)
Another thing I have noticed is that when I try to start up hdtune (at least a month ago) gave me a instant bsod.
    It never used to.

Seagate has a diagnostic program that you can download for their support site that will thoroughly test the hard drive to tell you if it is failing or not. I recommend downloading the self booting cd version, create the cd, boot to it, and run the most exhaustive tests to see what it says.

It does sound like a typical Seagate drive failure to me though.

i'm quite sure that the seagate utility will tell u that the drive is allright but looks like its classic Seagate momentus drive failure... time to buy a new non-seagate drive... even if u RMA , u get a repaired drive..

    I'll do that tonight. Thanks.

I will have to RMA it. I don't have any extra money to get a new drive.

hey, seagate hard drives have a known firmware problem with their free fall sensor.
The problem is addressed with a new firmware upgrade (right now i think it's available from dell only, though last i checked was 2-3 months ago so maybe i am wrong).

    Take a look here : http://www.digitalchumps.com/gaming...-qclicking-noiseq-on-seagate-hard-drives.html

But there are many more resources.. Just google for your "st9320423as clicking" in google and you'll find a lot of references.

Not sure this is your problem but it's worth a try.
