I bought a 2-year ADP extended warrenty from HP and I was wondering if upgrading your RAM would void your warrenty. I have found 4gbs of RAM for under $40, as opposed to the $100 hp charges. Also, the dv5t uses 200-Pin DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) right?
    Thank you.

Memory is considered user replaceable and therefore does not void any warranties.

Correct, memory-replacing will not void the HP warranty... only stupid Averatec warranties.

As for the RAM type, I think the HP dv5t actually uses DDR2-800 RAM (faster than DDR2-667). The DDR2-667 sticks will fit in the laptop, but all the memory will run at a slower speed, so I suggest that you find DDR2-800 sticks.

Yes all new dv4's dv5's and dv7's use ddr2-800mhz ram. I have an AMD an Intel dv7 both are running 800mhz ram at 800mhz
