I got my ux32vd and I had this annoying fan problem. It permanently went off and on. from 0% to 90% fan speed. I read somewhere that it would go away with an bios update. So I downloaded the newest bios and flashed it accordingly. Nothing went wrong so far.

But now if I try to boot, it only boots to the BIOS, everything seems fine the new version is displayed correctly and it also recognizes all hardware such a my hdds. But I have no boot options they are greyed out.

    Any idea what went wrong?

The bios has an easy flash option so I thought maybe I could roll back. But it tells me to plugin an AC. Any idea what that means?

    update:

Okay it probably just meant I needed >20% power.

It is completely stupid, I can't reinstall the newest bios because it tells me that it is older than the current bios. this also means I can't fall back to an older bios version. Dafuq asus?

Maybe I can manipulate the build date somehow, or I just sent it back..

    update2:

CSM had to be activated. I still have no boot options but at least it boots to windows now.

NICE save... What if you press ESC key shortly after power on do you see an alternate boot menu?
Yes ASUS does not allow BIOS to be flashed "back" or reflashed to same version on all models I have read about (LAME). When you did the original flash did you use EZ Flash (from BIOS) or WinFlash (or whatever ASUS calls it now). I know the safest method is EZ.. and have the new BIOS on FAT32 formatted USB stick.
