I'm doing my pre SSD upgrades to my UL30VT in the form of an 8gb kit of DDR3 and 32gb Class 10 SDHC card and am just wondering the best way to use them now with my mechanical HDD and after I get my SSD.

Current intended use for pre-SSD upgrade:

    With my mechanical HDD:

8gb ram: I intend to assign half ( 4gb ) as a ramdrive which I will use solely as a pagefile to offload the pagefile from the HDD to give me a performance boost in my apps/games when the pagefile is being accessed
--- Save the comments about pagefiles not being needed with a lot of ram cause you're just 100% wrong. Pagefile is used no matter how much ram you have and how fast your HDD/SSD is so please, save us the hassle of that common and invalid arguement as there are bennefits to a pagefile in a ramdrive so please, please use google before you start an invalid arguement.

32gb Class 10 SDHC card: My only intent for now is to use this as a dedicated readyboost drive to offload some of the HDD work to reduce heat and power from the mechanical HDD.

    With my SSD:

8gb ram: No clue if I should do anything other than let windows do it's thing or if there would be any bennefit from using a ramdrive for any of the ram, maybe there would be some bennefit to a 2gb ramdrive used for IE/Firefox files that are written to and read from constantly?

32gb Class 10 SDHC card: I was going to move all documents folders to the SD card to prevent constant reads/writes to the SSD. Don't know what all I should move to the card other than that though.

I heavily use ramdrives for more "static" tasks like large read/writes on databases or testing a web application.

never had the chance to use it as a pagefile due to having a lot of ram already and the randomness of when a page file will be used in general (so i've decided to put it on the ssd instead).

tried to put my firefox, cache and addons on the ramdrive as well but removed it since there was no notable difference than when it was on an ssd aside from the read writes on the ssd.

would love to see your updates on how this would work out :D
