Just read tomshardware, and buy.com and it says that the conroe core 2 duo would be released july 21...wow seems fast! It alows ddr2 800. Is that really that significant comparing that to the 533 or 667 mhz? I just read somewhere..is this only for desktops?
What do you guys think about this verses the yonah? Is the meron a much better chip than the conroe though?
So prices for the core duo should drop pretty soon i expect?

These are the desktops versions of the Core 2 Duo which will be replacing the pentium 4. The mobile Core 2 Duo's should be released in August and should have 667MHz. The 800MHz versions are only scheduled for next year and will require a new chipset.
Merom over Yonah should see some 10-15% or more boost in performance depending on the applications in use.
Core Duos already had a price cut in the last week of May and most likel will have smaller reductions before the release of Merom. -
thanks a bunch. So it seems like july would be a good month to purchase a notebook with core duo? Or would august be better.
Don't know if this is new news..
