    Hey everyone,

Looking into upgrading the cpu in my Asus u80v as the title says. Looking on the official specifications here: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/U80V/specifications/

It only lists cpu's up to T9400, making me think the bios will only support that, but I was wondering if I could go higher, possibly the T9600 or the T9800. What do you guys think?

If T9400 works in your laptop, you should be able to use all of the 35W T9x00 Core 2 Duos. So yes, you should be able to get a T9600 or a T9800. It has the right chipset too.

Agreed that both of those should work; ASUS is not known for BIOS whitelisting. People typically run into issues upgrading CPUs when trying to install a different model entirely (such as going from a Pentium Dual-Core to a Core 2 Duo). In your case you're just jumping up to a slightly faster model of the same model line.

Take this as you want but there's going to be very little performance difference between your T9400 and a T9600/T9800; don't spend much (I'd say < $40-50).
