So, I didnt do enough research to find that my new M15X didn't support 800mHz ram. But, my system seems to be running quite fine with the 800mhz ram except that my memory score on the vista experience thing is only 5.2. I know my friends M1530 is at 5.4. How much of a difference is this in actual performance. Would simply installing ram that was made to run at 667 boost my score? Is the higher score achieved by using 4-4-4-12 ram instead of the 5-5-5-15?

Let me tell you how to find out your answer without answering you question. Both your friend and you download SiSoft Sandra it is free. Here is a link (bottom left). Once it is installed run it and run the Memory Bandwidth Benchmark. You will now know who has faster RAM. Then you can try and figure out why. CL5 is 25% greater latency than CL4 so yes it will lower your maximum bandwidth. Does it matter? Only really on certain memory intensive applications. I would not worry too much about Vista Experience, I mean it runs Vista so what do you care what number it gives you?
