when i installed Vista,it require new bios so i downloaded from Toshiba website, all key include FN worked well in Vista. But I have to re-install Xp because Vista is really Ram-eater

Some keys dont work well in Xp such as controll of brightness, wireless, etc.I think the main problem here is the ACPI BIOS.My current is 5.10 for vista, however old version is 1.60 to 2.40 (04-27-2006 to 12-22-2006)

My lappy was bought in 01-11-2007

So what 's the right version in my case,if i do the downgrade, there is any damage to my lappy

upgrading and downgrading BIOS isnt always safe, many ppl have killed their laptops that way (not through their own fault tho)

nothing wrong with downgrading but i dont see how the BIOS haas anything to do with the Fn keys, could there be some software or driver you need to isntall?

The only danger with any BIOS flash, whether upgrade or downgrade, is that the flash will not take properly, in which case your notebook becomes a lovely, warranty-free paperweight. This is why you never flash on battery power or when there is any risk of a power outage, and why, if at all possible, you use a pure DOS mode to flash, even if winphlash options are available.
