I just bought a 750GB Western Digital Scorpio Black for my notebook. In the past, I've used Symantec Ghost and cloned my PC after a "fresh install with drivers" and again after "programs installed"...
I like having a up to date full system backup, so if my HD fails, all I have to do is spend 15 minutes to clone the replacement drive and I'm back up with no down time.
I've liked Symantec Ghost because its a pure no BS approach. You boot the computer from the CD and choose 'disk to image' or 'image to disk.' It's simple and doesn't require windows are anything...it just works.
What are my options for my new drive with the 'Advanced Format.' ( info here).

WD Support / Downloads / WD Scorpio & AV-25 / WD Scorpio Black
Acronis True Image WD Edition
download and install, there should be an option to create a boot cd, then use that boot cd to copy your old drive to the new drive. -
I don't just want to make a drive copy...i want to save the drive as some sort of image file.

I highly recommend Drive Snapshot (full functional 30 day demo), however it does not come with its own boot CD. I use it with BartPE.
I also have the 750GB WDD laptop HDD and am in the process of doing an image of my 500GB Momentus XT to write to it, in order to decide which one to stay with. In other words, if the 750GB isn't much slower than the Momentus XT Hybrid then I might stay with that one.
For ease of use, I recommend Acronis True Image though. -
Any other suggestions?
Drive Image / Cloning software for the new Western Digital Scorpio 750GB "Advanced Format"?
