My gf4 4200go video card recently died, so I searched on ebay for a replacement. I decided to buy a fx5200go, as it looked like it would be compatible in the 8500. I received it and installed it, and it shows video. However, I can not get any drivers to work with it. I have tried the dell drivers (had to get i8600 driver for fx5200), and many nvidea forceware drivers (71.xx, 81, 91, 93 and 163). All have the same error message saying that the installer could not find any drivers compatable with the hardware on my laptop. I know that the fx5200go was not originally with the 8500, but started with the i8600. However, i was under the impression that it would work anyway.
Has anyone had this problem before, and know of any fixes for it?

You might want to check out some of the slightly older laptopvideo2go drivers, and make sure you download the modded INF.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8500, and I have had my go 4200 oced for 5 years, and it thankfully has not died. I would suggest getting I8KFANGUI and crank the fans to full. I believe this has been the savior of my laptop in many instances.
