    I prefer the dell style keyboard rather than the chiclet keyboard that
    ASUS seems to be in love with. (Remember the TRS-80 color computer?
    I do, that had a chiclet keyboard and it was evil!) Are keyboards standardized
    in size like optical drives, or are there upteen variations?

    Typically proprietary to individual models or small families of similar machines. I definitely doubt you're going to be able to find a non-chiclet keyboard replacement for machine with a chiclet keyboard.

    Though modern "chiclet" keyboards are only chiclet in appearance; they have the same spring/rubber dome mechanism as "normal" laptop keyboards...
