My uncle dropped my laptop recently and it fell onto the charger port which was connected. I have the newer rectangle style, the pin on the charger itself is bent but works perfectly and laptop is charging too.

Im not too fussed about the charger but Im really worried for the integrity of the system. Does anyone know how the recent Lenovos are built and can I get them to do anything to make sure that everything is in good order (the same thing happened to my last Toshiba and that could not be fixed without replacing the whole motherboard).

Well, if the port looks okay and isn't loose, then I'd just get a new charger and cal it a day.

I've dropped my laptop on it's usb port while a 360 controller was plugged in, the 360 controller plug was bent all the way almost 90 degrees but the port was still fine, funny how that works

Good to hear, just don't want to compromise the strength of it because if it goes out then my whole motherboard will be in jeopardy.

Its charging perfectly as I said and the port itself hasn't become loose. Unfortunately the plastic laptop wedges of easily if I push the charger pin up but again if the motherboard is fine then its the world off my shoulders.

The thing is that if the connector is bent, you're putting stress on the connector on the motherboard if you're inserting a bent connector in there. If the metal part is still straight, then it should be alright, but if that is what's bent, I'd change the charger.

The actual rectangle thing is straight and so is the little pin inside it. Most importantly should I worry too much about the laptop itself let alone the charging port?

Also Lenovo have really picked up in popularity recently, is their build quality still good?

Build quality depends on the model. The Thinkpads are still very solid, the ideapads are what you'd expect out of decent consumer units. They aren't designed to take a beating.
