What is better in a laptop? Dual 512MB 8700M GT or a 512MB 8800M GTS? How much of a performance difference is there between these two? Thanks.

8800 M GTS is still better. :) Not sure what the exact benchmarks are though. Somebody coulld help you with that.

With SLi you don't actuallt double the graphical processing power.

I would go with the single 8800gts because not every game is optimised for sli and thus thse games will then run with a single 8700..eventually you graphics acrd will be a bottleneck and you game will start lagging..

8800m GTS gets it! Batt and heat I believe better. I looked at some 3DMark benchmarks and 8800 is about 75% more card. Now the SLI in 3DMark I saw is way off as it has 8700SLI overtaking that. No way real world, I would say 10% to 40% at best.

the 256 bit bus of the 8800 will kill the 8700's 128. The 8700 with a 128 bit interface can't use all the 512mb effectively... get the 8800...
