My Sager NP8265-S came with an Intel AC 7260. Boy, what an awful card. Apparently I'm not the only one with issues with this card with Windows 8.1.

First off, it loses 5GHz every once in a while completely which is completely annoying. Even when I am connected my speeds are 35Mbps (I have 105Mbps service.)

    But with
Amazon.com: Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band USB Adapter: Electronics

    I can get 115Mbps!

The thing is, I reeeeeeaally don't want to use another USB port and while it might be my antenna the only way to check is to use a known-good Wifi card.

    Any suggestions?

It is an excellent card for me...

Try switching the antenna leads around (you do have two, right?)...

What router is involved in the equation? Knowing that piece of information could help a great deal...

Outside of the sorta-terrible Linux support the card has worked quite well for me. I get maxed out speeds for the connection here.

    +1 for losing 5ghz band~
I will switch the antenna now and see if it helps, before I let it collect dust somewhere~

You can replace the internal card, those cost even less and make use of the internal antennas.
