New user here, I ran a search on the forums but I couldn't find any concrete information on this particular subject and thought it would be more productive to create a new topic to hopefully shed some light, my apologies if this has been asked before.
I am currently in the process of transferring all the data off my desktop computer onto my Laptop computer.
As my desktop currently has 2 SATA storage drives which exceed the size of my Laptop hard drive, it makes sense to me to purchase a dual SATA enclosure, and as my Laptop comes with an eSATA connection I would like to use that particular connection.
My understanding is that the Laptop in question (Dell Studio XPS 13) does not have an eSATA port multiplier therefore the enclosure MUST have its own if I want both the hard drives to be recognized separately. However I have read that if I want the drives to appear as such that both the Laptop AND enclosure must have port multipliers?
Finally Ive also read that apparently cheaper dual SATA enclosures are unable to read/write simultaneously to both drives?
For example say iTunes is installed on one hard drive and my music is located on the other. There shouldnt be any problems with that configuration correct? Now say Im downloading from the internet onto one of the drives whilst editing and saving an image on the other, this still shouldnt be a problem right?
