Dual core vs. Core Duo

This has probably been asked before but I couldn't find anything...
What is the difference between the Intel Dual core processor on the Dell E1505 and the Intel Core Duo processor on the Dell E1705? How are they different and which one is faster (better for games)??

 

It is the same exact processor. The Core Duo processor is what it is called.

 

I think the the dual core is a desktop CPU which makes it better for gaming, Core duo runs cooler usually for normal, small laptops. But those 2 laptops are showing the same processor, Core duo

Dual-core = having two cores on one die (physical chip).

Core Duo = Intel's name for its laptop dual-core processor.

Smith is correct. Core duo is Intel's name for it dual core processor.

 

Man they're so bad at naming stuff. They could have just named it Duo Core then something like Duo Core Mobile or something. Jeeeeeeez, or just add an M at the end like they did with the Pentium-M.

Still better than AMD's naming methods, even though I like AMD processors better in desktops.

 

There is no non-mobile version of the Duo Core yet; those are coming later this year. The dual core Intel desktop chips have a completely different architecture.

 

I thought Intel was only going to use Pentium Ds as their desktop dual core, I didn't know a new one was coming later... either way I like AMD better in my laptops and Desktops.

 

Centrino duo is like the name centrino and specifies an entire package of wireless, cpu and chipset. The cpu used has to be a dual core pentium M (core duo). A dual core pentium 4 could be called a dual core CPU but core duo is pentium M based.

Both of those laptops use a core duo processor.
