My laptop monitor is dead (very very faint, and ironically it died on the day I quit my job a few months back) I have been doing just dandy with an external monitor hooked up to the targus ACP50US docking port that I use. For Christmas I got a bigger monitor and now I would like run a duel monitor set up (one plugged into the back of the monitor and one on the docking port). Is this possible? I have been playing with it for a couple of hours but I cannot seem to figure out how to make it work.

I have an ENpower laptop running NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 video card.

any ideas? Can I turn off the laptop monitor so the system only see's the two monitors that are plugged in?

I don't think that's possible, I've not heard of any laptop supporting 2 external monitors even with a docking station.

are you sure that the Panel is dead? Sounds more like the inverter that went kaput, which is why your not getting any backlighting. Inverters are relatively cheap, but they are laptop/model specific.

Here is a small guide on how to replace a laptop blacklight inverter :

It's for a VAIO laptop, but most laptops are more or less the same.

What is kind of weird is that sometimes just as it starts up the screen is full brightness for a few seconds. Then it goes black. I might fiddle with the link you gave me - any other thoughts?

Also say that it is the inverter that makes the laptop screen really really dim where does one buy a new inverter?
